Nexus Player not reading Ethernet connection

by MrPoliSciGuy

Hi all,

I recently purchased a USB+Ethernet hub for my Nexus Player, and I've plugged in a bunch of stuff but for some reason it isn't working. The USB connections work fine, but the ethernet connection just isn't being read. It doesn't automatically read that an Ethernet cable has been connected. The hub works on other devices and the cable works on other devices too.

It's not the hub: I've plugged in USB devices and it works fine. Am I missing something here?

Maybe tell us what cable you bought and where you got it?

Same thing happened to me. I purchased a AUKEY 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Ethernet Port ( http://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-3-Port-USB-Ethernet-Port/dp/B00ROSXE86 ) and plugged it in with a USB flash storage already plugged in. It only recognized the flash storage and not the Ethernet. I unplugged the flash and then plugged the hub in with nothing else plugged in and it then recognized the Ethernet - then plugged the flash storage back in and it was recognized too! Try the hub without anything else first.

Some Gigabit Ethernet adapters are not supported by the kernel we have. Or at least, that was the case at launch.

I bought a random USB+Ethernet hub off of Amazon and it worked for the first week with my Nexus Player. Then it stopped working. When I get home tonight I'll unplug, reboot and try it again and see if it works. Here's what I bought , by the way.
