I am thoroughly pissed about having to sideload Spotify and resorting to that option when casting to a regular Chromecast (even the 1st gen) is supported. Isn't it the same protocols?

It's Spotify's doing: http://www.androidcentral.com/googles-deal-spotify-start-unfortunate-new-chapter
Doesn't say Android TV in the article, but it shows they were 'selective' on what they were going to cast to, even though they all use GoogleCast.
Could someone tell me why they would prefer to use Spotify over Google Music? I'm a $7.99/month Google Music subscriber and I love the service - plus I get YouTube Red for free. I've uploaded about 20,000 songs to My Library and whenever I want to listen to something I don't have Google Music always seems to have it available for me.
Seeing how I use Android phones, tablets and now even AndroidTV, Google Music is just brilliant integration into that ecosystem. So, do your best to sway me to Spotify. There is no doubting how popular Spotify is. I want to know what I'm missing. Thanks!
I have no troubles casting Spotify to my Shield TV. I just use the Web Player.
Completely different protocols. AppleTV uses their proprietary Airplay which is a real time stream from your device while Chromecast uses Upnp so a link is sent from Spotify or YouTube.
Airplay has to reencode and decrypt the signal which is why there's slight delays. Chromecast doesn't work this way it relies on client and server like file sharing.
Just switch to Play Music or one of the many other music services that are not bitches about casting. This is a Spotify problem.
