Probably because of some apk that I manually downloaded and sideloaded, I started receiveing photo ads (for games mostly) that popup every couple of minutes making the Shield TV unusable.
It happens on multiple apps (Hulu, Kodi) and even on the home screen. Malware scanners freely available on the Android TV Playstore found and removed one suspicious thing but I still have the issue.
Any recommendations?
Don't install any apk that isn't from the play store or apkmirror. Like pirated games.
In case someone's wondering, I restored the System to factory settings.
The points some of you made are good ones. Mine was a rookie mistake that I shouldn't have done, I agree, but in case anyone knows a good anti Malware/Adware tool that works well on Android TV, I still think you should mention it. It could come handy to future fellow jackasses.
