What's Android TV like in Canada?

by yepyoureyouryore

I have a Shield Pro and love it. Our family friend is looking for a device exactly like it - but lives in Canada. Which apps will work in Canada? I know Hulu won't work at all, will Netflix run the Canadian one? Are there other LeanBack apps in Canada?

Selection of Canada friendly Android TV apps is abysmal. That's why most Canadians sideload kodi and stream movies and shows illegally. Canadians are left with few other choices

Same games as in the US, since games are not geo-restricted like tv/movies.

Otherwise there's very little aside from Netflix, Crackle, Kodi, Plex. Definitely no Hulu or HBO or anything.

I made a quick video just now of me cycling through the google play store. So you can see what it looks like. Ignore the HBO Now app i have installed, I sideloaded that.

That said, I still love my Shield and would recommend it.

As a Canadian with Android I am perplexed as to why everyone "cuts the cord" and then looks for addons that give them live TV. Android works perfectly for me because I ditched the channels and just stream the shows. News, sports, TV shows and movies. All there.

I use a VPN for the American apps and Netflix library.
