Question with regards with wired Nvidia Shield TV game stream.

by Pulgoso_

Was wondering if it an Nvidia Shield TV can stream 1080p games on a Powerline since my router is not 5Mhz WiFi

If so, what kind of powerline should I purchase to make sure that it will smoothly stream 1080p games into my TV

Thanks!!

Powerline adapters are very much a YMMV situation. Signal strength/reliablity will vary based on how the building is circuited, the quality of the wiring/installation as well as any interference that the signal my encounter en route.

I suggest just stopping by staples or best buy, grabbing some, hooking them up and testing what sort of speed/consistency you get on a laptop.

Personally, I would prefer to upgrade the router to wireless AC. I tested a few different powerline adapters at my apartment and the signal generally degraded from 170mbps down to 10-30mpbs (varied with each kit/each test). With wireless AC, my shields pull down nearly the entire 170mbps.

How much are powerline adapters? I would think buying a kickass router would be the smarter purchase.

TP-Link power lines are pretty cheap and work great. I see them on sale often and they have different version (300, 500, 1200 Mbps).

For routers theyre also great cheap routers. I'd you wantore premium buy an Asus RT?? The 3 antenna Dualband one.
