Shield TV won't turn on unless I pull power cable.

by Tapsaffnoo1

Has anyone encountered this problem? Just happened in the last couple of days but been on 3.1 since it came out. When the box goes into standby, the only way to get it back on is to turn the power on and off at the switch or pull the cable.

You sure it's not a problem with the remote? I have had this happen quite a few times though, but not every time so I don't know. There is also an Nvidia Shield TV subreddit that may offer more help.

File a ticket with NVIDIA customer care. There have been a few reported units which they have mostly RMAd

Is the Shield actually frozen or is it the HDMI signal?

I had a similar thing happen on my Nexus Player with my LG TV.
When it went to sleep, sometimes it would not properly wake back up, or so it would seem. I'd get a black screen with a "no signal" floating across it.

If I plugged out the HDMI cable and plugged it back in, voila, back in business.

I believed it had to do with the SimpLink feature on my LG TV (HDMI-CEC).
Once I disabled this feature for the Nexus Player, I never experienced the issue again.

Again, not saying this is your issue, but have you tried plugging out the HDMI cable and plugging it back in when this happens? If your screen comes back, you know it's something to do with the HDMI connection and not your Shield.
