I have an ADT-1 from Google I/O, and while I am still working on the game I started on when I first got it, I was thinking about upgrading. Should I? Right now, I'm using the ADT-1 for development and gaming on my desk, and a Chromecast on my TV.

The one thing that I didn't like about my ADT-1 was how hot it got. I really didn't use it much so I don't know if this was a real issue, but it struck me as a negative in the long-term. You're also relying on third-party ROM support to keep up with the times. I flashed Pure Nexus + Google Apps on mine prior to selling it.
If you don't need anything right away then you might as well wait for the Mi Box or, hopefully, the next-gen Nexus Player.
Well, I think the Shield is still the device to beat right now. It's still superior to the MiBox and all other Android TV Devices out there both hardware wise and special features. Given that there are multiple high-end games that are for the Shield Alone, if you're serious about gaming, the Shield should be the Android TV Device of choice even with the extra $100 over a Nexus Player.
Nvidia's the only one I feel that's serious about their box. Razer was a joke, MiBox is weak on the Storage and extra features, and Nexus Player is not being made anymore.
Honestly, the only device to upgrade to from an ADT-1 would be the Shield TV. Your ADT-1 has a K1 chip, and the Shield TV has an X1 .
The Xiaomi is basically going to be a $100 4K-capable replacement for the Nexus Player. And instead of an Intel Atom, it'll probably have a Mediatek chip. I wouldn't call that an upgrade.
Thanks for the replies everyone :) Yeah based on what you guys said, might be best to wait. And I didn't know that my ADT-1 was so close to the Nvidia Shield as far as power goes o.o
I have one as well and am now waiting for the Xiaomi.
While I have considered the Shield I can not justify it's cost when the ADT-1 does everything fine. I even have MM on it thanks to XDA.
