Android TV as pvr (sickbeard/rage, couchpotato)?

by nosmokingbandit

I'm trying to cut down on clutter so I'm hoping I can get my media downloader/server/client on one device.

Now I use sickrage and couchpotato to grab nzbs, and nzbget to download. Then minidlna serves it up.

There seems to be many choices as far as usenet/torrent clients, but I can't find much are far as finding and maintaining shows or movies.

Is there anything comparable to sickrage and couchpotato for android?

I run the sonarr/couchpotato/sabnzbd setup on my desktop and serve it to the android tv via plex.

Are you looking for something that will fetch the nzb file from the nzb indexers and send the nzb file to your nzb downloader that works on Android TV? Like Sonarr, LazyLibrarian or CouchPotato? This sounds like something really odd to develop since these programs are pretty much running 24/7 and would use quite a lot of resources.

Not really. Yeah, there's torrent downloaders, but you might be better off getting a Raspberry pi to do this for you.

I've been keeping an eye out for something like this as well but I haven't seen anything like it out there unfortunately, I think one of the problems people would have with services running 24/7 is that AndroidTV is apparently fairly aggressive with terminating/suspending services which run in the background eg I've tried a few vpn's a while ago and when it was idle for a bit it would kill the connection I'm not sure if its been improved/fixed in either marshmallow or N for apps to be constantly running in the background
