Keep an eye out for sales. I missed the $25 ones at Walmart by just 2 hours. I got a "new open box" (Best Buy via Ebay) for $50 and it was worth every penny. I've setup an alert on slickdeals.net so I can grab a couple for the rest of my rooms.
I recently bought a Nexus Player off ebay for $80 and I have zero regrets.

This sub has a hate-on for China based android boxes but I'd go for the mxiii. Cheap, good, lots of USB ports, and lots of online resources.
Nvidia Shield is the only other one I'm aware of. More pricey than the Nexus player but people seem to think it's worth it
