I wouldn't buy this, wait until there is a US release. Xiaomi has been making boxes for years. My understanding is the mibox will be AndroidTV outside of China and will still be the miui interface/launcher in China.
Price is now $499.....LOL
isn't 4k capability kind of pointless over wifi only? i understand i could buy a USB OTG ethernet dongle, but why not just get a shield tv that has it built in?
Nota bene: This is a presale offering. According to seller, delivery not expected til mid August. My best guess is it will be shortly before the Mid-Autumn Chinese holiday which is mid September this year. Historically Xiaomi times their new product events around a major holiday.
Don't know if I trust these retailers.
This is right where I expected it to land. Good price for the specs.
Not the official Android TV box from I/O. Nice spec though.
Has anyone bought one of these? I'm thinkin about it as i'm impatient and just wanna play with it.
Look at the pictures used, there are two different black boxes, one square with rounded edges, the other long and a little oval.
Most likely Its an Amlogic TV Box. Retail Price is reasonable

These are not the Android TV versions of their hardware. These are just their older hardware that has already been available.
$90 is pretty good! Does Aliexpress usually undercut pricing in North America, though? I figured this new Mi Box would arrive at the $99 price point to take over the Nexus Player's spot in the Android TV lineup.
