This is good news. I am upgrading to a 5.2.2 Atmos setup right now. Still, I'm not sure how much content I will be able to get on my Shield. Most downloaded rips only have 2-channel audio. You are lucky to get basic 5.1 audio with streaming services. So this leaves your personal rips as the most likely source of Atmos content. 4K is likely equally or more prevalent to Atmos audio. And AFAIK there isn't a reliable way to rip the new Ultra BluRays. So this will most likely only benefit you if you are still on a full-HD display but have upgraded to an Atmos system. I'd love to know if there are other sources of content, though.
My Shield already passes through Atmos signals (via Kodi), so i guess they just mean it's coming to more apps or something..?
All I want is for the damn thing to turn off external drives when it's put to sleep.
Not a hard feature to implement I would imagine.
I don't know why it's so hard to use CEC correctly.
Nvidia shield off or sleep while Shield is active: Tv goes off Tv turned off, turn shield off/sleep
This should have been a day one feature
HDMI-CEC off, I can just see it now.
"Xbox on"
Last input used was Shield, so it turns on with the TV.
Turn Shield off, switch to Game input.
TV turning off.
TV off will be nice. I just wish my damn sound bar would auto turn on when my TV turns on. Still need the remote to turn that on.
The other thread is highlighting the major feature, thought I'd mention these other two fairly important features as well.
Also, for Plex users, TrueHD/Atmos will be coming soon.
