If the app is available on the Play Store, then yes. This includes non TV apps, non TV apps are only installable via sideloading but the Play Store will update them if it can.
You may not want to update it since newer updates could break functionality on an app that was not designed 100% to work on the platform.

Typically no, since Google Play won't see the app add installable.
Also depends on if it's untouched. When an app is modified - themed, mods, cracks - it generally has to be resigned. The new signature makes it no longer auto update.

Typically manually, unless your device has that app on the play store, which is doubtful as you probably wouldnt have sideloaded it in the first place.
I sideloaded an old version of ES file explorer and had to turn off auto updates for it
