So this has happened a few times now. I'll fall asleep at night while watching YouTube, TV is set up on a sleep timer (but TV does not have HDMI-CEC). The next night, I will do the same, but when I turn my TV on, I notice that my Nexus Player is still playing videos, the same playlist from the night before! That's 24 hours of 1080p video streaming. I need this to stop.
I need a sleep timer app that stops media and allows the Nexus Player to go to sleep. Any suggestions?
As a side note, I also filed a feature request with Google for the Android TV YouTube app to have a way to disable autoplay like you can in the standard Android App (for phones/tables) or the web version of YouTube.
No apps/settings that I'm aware of. There are power strips that use one device's power status as an input to trigger the rest of the strip on and off ( example ). You could configure that such that the Nexus Player only receives power when your TV is on and then use your TV's sleep timer to turn off the TV + Nexus Player.
Sleep timer's are going to be a necessary function for the cord cutting community, especially if you have data caps.
