Has the Xiaomi Mi Box release date been announced yet?

Moved some things around in the house (Shield TV units, for one) and am traveling for business.

Just got the dreaded text from wife: "went to use p90x on upstairs TV and nothing on it works..."

I don't want to buy another Shield (we have 3, one in movie room, one in master bedroom, one I travel with), but our last Roku 3 unit died and unless I "fix the TV's" very soon, my setup may lose wife appeal/approval!

Nope.

No. I'm sure it will be plastered here and on /r/android when it is.

There have been several iterations of the Mibox sold by Xiaomi in Asia already. The specs for the forthcoming US version running Android TV, match exactly with the specs on a new version already on sale in China. There was a thread here with a link a couple weeks ago. You don't have to wait for it to launch here officially if you don't want to.

But alas, it looks like the vendor raised the price from $90 to $499 and it now says "Pre-sale" on it.

It will be released by the end of the year
