TVHeadend Live Channels Beta App

by serpentxx

So i sold my nexus player to a friend 2 weeks ago because i got tired of waiting for a solid way to watch live tv on androidTV

Well i was too impatient because upon tweaking my new windows kodi box, i stumbled on this little gem in the forums, someone is developing a TVHeadend Live channels app

But you could have used an hd home run and watched live tv, it's been around for quite a while.

True, HDHomeRun seems like the most stable option, but i would have had to fork out $260 AUD for one, whereas i already have a NAS and various USB tuner cards so tvheadend is my cheapest option.

Its still great that more and more things like this are getting developed for AndroidTV.

Combine that with TVH running on the Shield TV itsself and you got youself a very powerful DVR with transcoding. B2T: As of now the app uses JSON to communicate with TVH instead of hts. They planned to pivot in the future, though. For me, only SD channels work as of now as not all codecs are supported.

Is there a community of tv headed users on reddit? I'm introduced by this but you need the TV headed server, and I have no idea if it's even possible to set one up on a Mac...
