Spotify sound quality?

I'm not sure if I'm imagining it but listening to the same song on YouTube sounds much bassier than the same song played through the Spotify app. It also sounds better if I stream from my phone via Bluetooth to the receiver than through Spotify on my Nvidia shield. Do I have he wrong audio encoding set or something? I only have a 2 speaker system (monitor audio bronze 5s), maybe Spotify is configured for a 5.1 system?

I know the desktop application has quality settings, does the android TV app let you choose streaming quality at all?

A song can be released through different versions, each mastered differently. This can impact the perception of the song. Mastering can be different for the same song depending on the medium/channel it's being released for like: clubs, movies, CD, vinyl, radio, music video, streaming etc.

I don't think it's your imagination. It sounds just awful to me too.
