Mine is showing up tomorrow, upgrading from a Nexus Player. After selling the extra controller and Nexus Player it should be a fairly reasonable upgrade cost.
Upgrading from them android set top boxes, should have done it a while ago but been waiting for a sale such as this one. Arrives in the morning.
I was one of the sad jerks who bought one on Friday and had it arrive the day before the sale. Oh well.
I was a day-one launch first adopter. Haven't regretted it at all. I bought one on this deal because it was a good price yesterday and I wanted to use this one for upstairs.
Edit: Clarified why I have 2 shields total now.
Didn't go on sale at all in Canada, so unfortunately not me.
Me too Treylek...I used a $20 off code on the Nvidia site last week and mine arrived yesterday. Feel like a dope missing out on Prime Day deal, but fuck it...device is still awesome and I have no regrets!!
Mine arrived yesterday. Happy with it so far.
I picked one up, and with free one day shipping, it arrived yesterday. I might need to submit for a replacement, though, as the controller that came with the shield has capacitive buttons that work very intermittently (back mainly, start and home less so). Interestingly, the separate controller seems to be perfect so far.
I'll be getting one tomorrow! Should be a nice Chomecast upgrade and my wife and I are looking forward to some SNES action.
Right here, got the $150 version with the extra controller. Would of liked a remote bundle but oh well.
Hopefully gonna move my chromecast to another room and my steam link as well. Not sure if i can replace the shield with the link as I like my Xbox one controller too much.
I'm pissed. I didn't get into it. I already have 1 but I sure wanted another. God damn it, why did I have to take lunch.
I'm not new,but I've got 2 👍😀😍
Mine is coming tomorrow. I'm going to be upgrading from a Fire Stick, and hopefully GameStream will allow me to retire my HTPC too. Can't wait!
I almost was. It took every last bit of will power I have to not buy the Shield TV and the Huawei Watch.
Last week, the remote to my Nexus Player broke... So I had been using a Nexus 7 as my remote. I hated it.
On Prime Day, I happened to check the price of the Shield TV 500gb on a whim. Badabing badaboom... I'm glad I did.
Upgrading from a Roku 3. Been planning to buy it and the prime sale came at the perfect time
I am upgrading from an FTV gen 1. I did a lot of emulation with it but it was only ok for this. Mine is coming friday
If I hadn't JUST bought a ShieldTV Pro, I've upgraded all my other media players with ShieldTV boxes.
I'm in Canada so I didn't get the deal. But I sold my PS4 to buy a Shield, I've been wanting one for a while and haven't touched my PS4 in ages...
Looking forward to the Shield...Love my Fire TV, and sold my Nexus Player a while ago.
It's arriving today...I'm excited!
My 16GB was delivered today... and I can't wait to get home to set it up. This will be my first foray into Android TV... I have two 1st Gen Chromecasts, and I had the Vizio Google TV box (that bombed out), so I'm excited!
Any recommendations for tips and tricks?
I bought one! It's going to replace my bedroom PS3 that is only used for Netflix and allow me to bring Kodi from the living room up to the bedroom as well. I'm stoked! Supposed to arrive tomorrow, but hasn't been billed or shipped yet. :(
I bought one! :)
I am! Kodi/SPMC on the shield is a whole new level. It's run flawlessly with everything I've tried to do
Thanks!!
I got one to replace my fire tv. I'm impressed with how fast this device is and the fact that is has a plex server built in. However I'm underwhelmed by the app selection. I thought it would be near identical to the fire tv since both are running android. There are apps on the fire tv that are not on the shield. 4 big ones for us are watch Disney, Disney jr, ps vue, and nbc sports for the olympics.
I side loaded those applications but don't operate the same as the fire tv version. The ftv version operates with a 10 ft interface using a remote control. The apps side loaded on the shield look like a tablet version where you have to use the right control stick as a mouse to operate. The nbc sports app displays like a phone app in portrait mode. That unfortunately doesn't work well as we use a harmony for our main remote.
Does any one have any suggestions or tips to help with these issues? Again, I'm really impressed by the hardware and plex, but let down by the lack of apps.
I'm upgrading from a Nexus Player to a Shield. The Nexus Player would have been great with a little more horsepower. The sale pushed me over the fence.
