Killing Unresponsive Apps / Task Manager

by churnandsquirm

I have an app or two that constantly freeze up. I end up having to go to Settings, Apps, Downloaded Apps, find the one I want and then Force Quit.

I'm going to give my parents a Shield TV and I think this process of force quitting apps will be way too complicated for them. They likely won't be able to remember it and in the best case scenario will simply turn the Shield TV on and off.

Is there a simpler way of force quitting unresponsive apps that even a non-techie grandma/ grandpa could intuitively do it?

Android Nougat has this option. You can long press the home button and get a list of running apps, which can be force closed.

Yes. I asked this question a few months ago and I got a response of a custom made Android TV application that allows apps to be killed - check out the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/help/app-allows-to-force-close-apps-android-t3312808
