I can't speak to Sony TV's but I think Nvidia controllers only work with Nvidia hardware. They connect via wifi-direct instead of the more standard Bluetooth gamepad protocol.

Shield to controller won't work because it uses wifi direct , similarly to that of a Xbox controller

Have you looked at the Nexus Player Controller too?

That one should work with the Sony TV.

The Shield controller won't work wirelessly with anything but a Shield, but you may be able to plug it in using a micro-USB cord. It works that way on PCs anyway.

As for options, you might try other Bluetooth controllers like the Nexus Player pad, the Razer Serval, the PowerA Moga series (in mode B), etc. I'm not terribly familiar with the Sony TVs, but I don't see why they wouldn't work.
