Has any TV based on Android TV been updated to Marshmallow?

by awaitforitb

I own a Sony Android TV which was released in 2016 and its still on Lollipop. I saw a few articles in Jan stating that Marshmallow will be released to 2015 Sony TVs. Considering this its my assumption that 2016 TVs will definitely get the update.

Also now that Android Nougat is getting released with features specifically built to enhance TV experience I was wondering if there is any chance Sony TVs will get this update. Is Sony planning to skip Marshmallow and directly release Nougat considering OEMs have had early access to Nougat.

Asks about the update status of tvs running Android tv gets told he's a fool for buying an android tv tv. gg people the arguments for getting a dumb tv are solid but that's not what the op asked. Remember what your teacher said answer the question asked not the question you'd like to be asked.

I am just here hoping the community makes effort in custom roms. For my phones I already only buy phones that prove to have a decent basis on XDA like Nexus devices or One Plus devices as even Nexus devices get abandoned after 2 years.

Oh btw, I also only got the panel that in 2015 proved to have the lowest input lag, was 4K and decision based on picture quality. It was a toss up between this sony androidtv one or a panasonic firefox OS. At least androidtv has some basis for apps that I could sideload and are actually developed and is not like a fish on the land. (Also slightly lower input lag)

I was never excited for androidtv in the first place, just exactly for this conundrum. If I were in the US I would picked up a Vizio television that is simply a panel, and only had 17ms input lag and half the price.

Anyone to buy a tv for the media Features is a dumb fuck. You will be required to buy a STB some day anyways. Tv companies aren't going to support the OS very long and a yea it 2 down the road apps won't be updated or even work.
