IS there anywhere to still buy a nexus player?

by piexil

I want a cheap device for our apartment living room for netflix and plex. I have a shield tv for my room.

If not is there any devices that can run android tv? I read Raspberry PI 3 is supposed to be getting support but what about the more powerfuld evices like odroid XU4 or C2?

Andrroid

Retail stores? No. Ebay or craigslist are youre best bets.

You could wait for the xaomi android tv mi box.

Haven't heard anything about rpi3 getting android tv and don't know about those other ones.

You can go ebay. But another Shield TV is probably your best bet to be honest.

Yeah that Xiaomi might be worth waiting for. The regular Shield TV is good quality for the money, but I'm guessing you don't want another one.

Nexus players are still available at Walmarts in some places. I'm going to pick up a few tomorrow. For $25. If you pm your zip I'll see if there are any around you. The Asus game pads can also still he found from $5-29

NPs are available on eBay new for 100 $, and I just bought one from somebody on the Android TV Google plus community, used of course.

You can go to eBay, but I don't know if you'll get a good deal. Better to wait for a MiBox or whatever Nexus refresh comes out, or see if you can find a deal on the Shield.

Raspberry Pi 3 has been added to the Android source tree, IIRC, but nobody is sure if builds like Android TV will be available for it. There is an unofficial Android TV build for it, but it's very early and unstable, and even once it's ready, it will likely have similar problems with app availability that the Razer Forge does. I wouldn't recommend that route.

odroid XU4 or C2

Judging by the name, those sound like those janky Chinese boxes, which we do not recommend around here. They actually run Android, not the Android TV platform.

But if you want affordable, it's either a used NP on ebay or craigslist or wait for the upcoming Xiaomi box.
