Better remote control for Sony Android TV

by baxtre

Just got a Sony Android TV and the remote is realllllly badly designed.

I know there are tons of apps that can work as a remote but I want a physical remote control with volume, d-pad, and play/pause.

Suggestions?

Edit current remote and what I don't like about it: I currently have the sony rmf-tx200u as my remote. I find that I'm constantly hitting the wrong buttons around the d-pad. And the play-pause buttons are so indifferent that I am constantly hitting the buttons around them as well. I've previously had a Roku3 Remote and loved it, simple and don't need anything more.

Do you have any IOT devices? If so you could add a Logitech Harmony remote/hub combo to your setup, download the Harmony app onto you TV and then create macros that can be selected on screen like "Netflix Time" or "Sunday Football"

What don't you like about it? I dig the remotes. Especially they new D series one

I have the swipe remote, the small Bluetooth one. It works pretty well. I had to turn off the swipe discovery and action menus because they were quite annoying apart from that it works well

Which remote do you not like? the swipe touchpad one? It's really customizable so just configure it to what you like.

Also, there are some great apps if you want to go that route, including Sony's own TV SideView.

The problem with the remote you want is that most of them don't have the mic button, which your tv has capabilities for and I find really useful.

Been using a spare firestick remote from a dead firestick with my android tv. It is lacking a volume up/down however.
