Also, the Android TV app has not worked since the last firmware update that added Plex server capability. So now I have to use the huge controller and charge it very often. Anyone have a fix for any of this? Oh yeah, apps also crash in the background and the notification doesn't go away until you actually select it which is super annoying when watching a movie. Does anyone else have these issues?

This is interesting. This has happened to me once before and a second time yesterday. Both times it's happened to me there have been threads here with it happening to others.
Does anyone know if there are background updates for the controllers? It could explain why we've been having these issues.
Mine is doing the same thing. Really annoying especially during a movie or show.
Use the included USB to micro USB cable to connect the remote to the shield TV. Keep it connected while using the shield TV. It should correct the connection problems (it worked for me).
hold down the home and back button until the device flashes as it resets itself, and then re-pair it.
