Microsoft has the Home Theater PC market pretty well wrapped up

Err.... HAD . They dropped Windows Media Center from Windows 10, after neglecting it for years. Biggest dropped ball ever.

Oh my god, that DVR Api.

If Sling supports that, I'm done with the cable company.

Nice. Another update that my fucking Sony Bravia shit TV is never gonna get.

Hopefully devices like the Shield Tv get USB tuner support so that they can become an all in one home theater device

More than any of these little features, I wish they would let us customise the home screen more. The columns and rows, remove recommendations row (you can disable all the recommendations, but then there's a blank row -.-) and customising screensavers and backgrounds would be nice

How good are OEM's at providing updates for existing Android TVs? Is my 2015 model Sony likely to get Android 7?

Better recording

With Marshmallow, Android TV was able to pause, resume or rewind a live broadcast through what Google calls time-shifting APIs. These placed the video and audio from a broadcast into a buffer that was saved as a recording, and we were able to view the recording while the live stream was being added to it. Android 7.0 takes this to the next level by adding full-blown recording support.

Uhhhm.. no it doesn't. I'm not aware of any such implementation in Marshmallow and this factual inaccuracy makes me question if this article is really giving us any new information. Google announced these APIs for Nougat months ago at I/O.

I assume the Nexus Player will also receive this update?
