Access USB Drive on Shield TV

by DaisyLee2010

So I would like to easily move files (movies) to the USB Drive hooked up to my Shield TV without having to unplug it to do so.

What is a good easy way to take the files from my computer and put them on the Shield?

Probably the best way would be to set up a folder share on your PC and access it via ES Explorer on your Shield. You can share the Shield storage in the network but I believe there's issues sharing USB drives that way.

You can network share or FTP. I've noticed on OS X that OS X seems to have a shitty implementation for FAT filesystems and will not let you copy files over 4GB, so for me I usually just FTP them over through ES Explorer.

Install ES. Open it and select View On PC and it will give you your FTP info.

or

Settings->Storage and Reset->Access Shield Folders on PC. On OS X, after doing that the Shield will show up in Finder, not sure for Windows but I think it should be similar.

I have the same question. Invite.

None of these suggestions will work, unfortunately, since the Android 6 update. Read about it here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/921315/shield-android-tv/how-to-3-0-marshmallow-and-external-drives-/

I use the VirtualHere solution to move files from my Windows PC to my Shield, and it works a treat.
