Nexus player on philips android tv

by porcodoi

So here's the thing, I bought a Philips Android TV, on which the interface is extremely laggy and buggy due to Philips firmware it seems.

Would it work, and if so would it be better if I attached an Android TV box to it? I have no experience in this matter, thanks.

It would work fine. Probably better than the Philips, but still moments of input lag/slow load times. If you want the best, the shield is the answer.

Late to the thread but yes. I just bought a Shield to use with my POS Philips Android TV which is, as you unfortunately know, completely unusable.

Shield works awesome. Nice and fast, no crashes, and every single button press registers! It even turns the TV on/off and selects the correct input using CEC.

I have no experience with the Philips (not sure what specs are either) but it'll likely be an upgrade. The Xiaomi Box might be a better purchase once it's available. But the NP does have access to Android 7.0 right now, so that might be a plus.
