Is there a way to access the contextual screen on netflix that shows you resolution on android tv? I know on Roku you access it with the star button and PS4 is the analog stick.

I would find a way to get their test example on your Shield. Might have to cast it? Dunno if it can be found in the app through a search.

It'll tell you bitrate, resolution, and pixel aspect ratio.
Is all you're looking for resolution? It would probably be extremely simple to write something that just printed system information.
I have a hub based Harmony remote, I paired the Shield with it as a Windows PC. The "CloseProgram" command shows the stream info
I red somewhere that you can hook in a keyboard and press a function key to show plackback settings.
For Android TV there isn't a method to do this.
However according to some people on the Geforce forums, using your TV remote to control the Shield TV (using HDMI CEC, enabled in Shield TV settings) apparently you can get the Netflix app to display the stream info using the TV remote. (usually the info button on TV remote).
I have HDMI CEC enabled, I can control my Shield TV using my TV remote but pressing the info button on my remote does nothing. But you can give it a try and see if it works for you.
