VUDU 4K on a Sony TV?

by morphinapg

I noticed on VUDU's device compatibility list for 4K , it shows Shield TV, so theoretically shouldn't it be possible to get that version of the app working on my new Sony 930D?

I have quite a few 4K movies in my ultraviolet collection and it seems VUDU is the only service that supports it as far as I'm aware. The Sony Ultra App only shows the Sony Pictures movies in my UV collection, none of which are 4K, so that isn't any help. Does anybody know of any other Ultraviolet compatible apps that support 4K?

VUDU made a special apk for SHIELD Android TV with 4K capabilities because SHIELD financed them. That app doesn't work on other Android TV devices. If Sony pays VUDU for a 4K enabled app I think they will do the same.

This article about the launch of VUDU on Shield TV states that "The Vudu Android TV app will be an exclusive on the SHIELD Android TV for some time to come." http://www.anandtech.com/show/10334/nvidias-shield-android-tv-console-adds-support-for-vudu-hdr-and-4kp60-content

So maybe it will eventually roll out to other Android TV devices. I did notice that Xiaomi appears to have VUDU installed on the Mi Box in their marketing photos and demos. Don't know if it's a version of the app that supports 4K but, given that 4K is a big marketing point for the Mi Box, maybe it does. http://www.mi.com/en/mibox/

I had a Sony tv for a week. I remember there being a Vudu app. Do you not have it?

People use VUDU more than once? Once was enough for me.
