Looking for wireless mics to use with Karaoke apps.

by KenToTanTaYo

My teenagers have been asking for a karaoke machine but I don't wanna spend $300+ for the magic sing device they want. Anyone know of any wireless mics that will work with Android TV devices? It would be much cheaper to use the many karaoke apps on the play store. I have an Nvidia Shield 16gb model I would like to do this with. Thanks for the help.

I'm thinking either Bluetooth (most likely) or somehow using a wireless USB transmitter/receiver (maybe not practical) would be the two options for replicating a wireless karaoke experience.

Honestly the best option is to get a couple Rock Band USB mics for dirt cheap and tell them to deal with the cord. When they get tired of the karaoke apps, you'll only be out around $20.

If only the microphone in the remote could be used!

Something like this would probably do the trick. I haven't really tried this with my Shield, so I don't know for sure.

EDIT: It looks like that just uses USB for power, and doesn't actually act as a USB audio receiver. So you'd need to plug it into a USB soundcard as well.

Does your Shield plug into a receiver of some kind? I do this, and while I normally use surround sound, when doing karaoke, I use the analog outputs (left and right only) into a small mixer (like this) https://www.amazon.com/Karaoke-Mixer-Microphone-Stereo-Balanced/dp/B01H66TT52 . With that, you can use any regular wireless microphone, and don't have to worry about getting it to work by USB, etc.
