I figured this thing would sell for $99, maybe $89, with an off chance of $75 if they were really looking to take some market share. But $69?! Wow. The value of the enclosed coupons is more than that. $69 is the same price that Google's new UHD-capable Chromecast Ultra will sell for. Why buy that when you get all the same Google Cast capability plus lots more with the Mi Box?

I do think this will put some downward pricing pressure on the 2nd gen Nvidia Shield TV. I know it has much better specs than the Mi Box and will continue to command a premium but now that there's another UHD HDR Android TV streamer on the market at such a low price, I think they'll have to come down from $199 at least a bit.

Really gonna need PlayStation Vue support. :-/

If anyone reading this buys a Mi Box today and has an Amazon Prime account, do us a favor and try to sideload the Amazon Video for Android TV APK and see how it runs. Any comments about the likelihood that Xiaomi will support and update the mi box in the future with new versions of Android TV like NVIDIA has? Not that I'm expecting a lot for $69... But I might rather pay a little more for update support in the future.

I JUST bought a ShieldTV, very happy with it, and would totally love if this price rings true.

I have my more powerful/$$ box, but more Android TVs people can get a hold on (I likely will get another one for the bedroom), the better Android-TV native apps we get.

Nice to see they scored Netflix and Vudu. Those were my two real pain points with the Forge (still glad I was able to return that thing).

From what I'm piecing together, the Mi Box won't support HDR out of the box. Apparently that will require a future update to Android TV 7.0. It comes with 6.0 installed. Couldn't find any in San Jose. Found 3 (got all 3) in gilroy.
