Why is the new CW app coming to every platform but Android TV?

by PNGwolffman

If you go to the CW website it has an ad for its upcoming app release for the different platforms. Practically everything is listed, except for Android TV. It lists Android as a platform, but that generally means the mobile Android OS. What's the deal?

Because someone in a planning meeting somewhere decided android tv doesn't have the userbase yet to warrant app development. Or that "they can just cast it."

Because they're dicks.

Honest question: how hard is it to convert an already made android app to Android TV? Or do developers have to build the app from the ground up?

Always ticks me off when there is obvious interest in an app for Android TV and it never happens.

They may yet support it. Don't assume marketing is so informed. Android TV uses the same app store.

Would we be able to cast it to chrome cast?

TheRealSilverBlade

They see those Kodi/Android boxes and immediately think Android = Kodi = piracy.

PNGwolffman

Well the new CW app is on Roku, so it's starting to roll out. Fingers crossed that Android TV is actually part of the lineup. Otherwise I'm it's time to sideload the Fire TV version.

ianrobbie

Is there no possibility of sideloading it?

It's more to do with Amazon getting exclusive deal for sometime

trinipirate

No surprise. Android TV is getting less and less love.

PolaresBears

I call that a good thing.
