Downvote all you want but it is doubtful the poor 4K performance is software-related. 4K was pushed to market much too soon and is being used as a buzz term to sell stuff to people who don't even own a 4K TV. Most of the 4K-labeled devices on the market right now can't reliably handle 4K@30Hz much less 4K@60Hz, 4:4:4 chroma, 10-bit HDR. The last generation of devices included many that could not reliably handle 1080p content. 1080p@60Hz is only a 3Gbps signal. By comparison full 4K is between 12 and 18 Gbps! That means you are expecting to see a 4X increase in performance in a single generation at the same price point. That is just not going to happen for another 1-2 generations. For now we will continue to see devices advertised as 4K that are targeted at the 1080p market. I don't expect anything under around $150 to provide a good experience with 4K.
