Anyone worried about lack of Ethernet on the MiBox?

by hydraSlav

As the title says, considering internet streaming demands of 1080p video (let alone 4K), is anyone concerned with the hyped MiBox not having an Ethernet port?

Of course theoretically 802.11ac has the bandwidth to support it, but in practice does it work? Signal interference, drops outs, etc

Get a usb ethernet adapter if you're worried. Works well enough on the Nexus Player.

It's all relative to your individual circumstances. Wifi is a YMMV situation. My situation, I run everything on an 802.11ac network. I get gigabit local transfer rates just fine to my downstairs shield. Additionally, 802.11ac introduces beamforming, a technology that does wonders to 5ghz issues like wall penetrations. The only thing I have hardlined in is my Plex server. All client devices are on WiFi.

Honestly, I didn't even know people were so paranoid about wifi until I saw the talk on Reddit.

Confirmed their USB to RJ45 adapter will work with the Mibox http://xiaomi-mi.com/accessories-tv-box/xiaomi-ethernet-network-adapter-usb-rj45/

He also stated the reason it doesn't include one is majority of modern households favour wifi over Ethernet.

Personally id rather Ethernet, but its nice to know their official adapter works, even if it is only 100mbps

Streaming pc games from my desktop to my shield showed me the value in ethernet, beam forming aside.

No ethernet why I'm not buying the MiBox.
