I just got a Mi Box, and am new to android tv. I've set up the live channels function to draw from my hdhomerun's channels, which is totally cool. However I can't seem to figure out how to just STOP a channel from playing and go to either the guide or back to the home screen. If I bring up the guide, the channel keeps playing. If I go to the home screen the channel keeps playing in the background.
Is there a way to stop playback of a live tv channel?
From the home screen, press Play/Pause to stop Live Channels.
This is really infuriating. Some apps don't consider the select button as play/pause button.
The SlingTV FAQ even says press the play/pause button to pause the stream.
Use the Android TV Remote app on Google Play. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote and then use the play/pause on the home screen.
I have a similar problem with my Shield TV remote, which has no play/pause button either. What I do from the home screen is I hit the voice search button, which stops playback, and then the back button to exit voice search.
I paired an Amazon Fire TV remote because of it. But on the mi box remote when playing live tv press the back button to switch to the home screen, choose the now playing tile then press the voice command button. The live tv stops playing and the voice command page comes up. Just hit the back button. I am having a love hate issue with the remote also.
Design decision. Only way to stop it is going into another app.
