Recommended TV Content List Issues

by Brockemon

Hi all,

Part of my excitement about getting Android TV was to have all my favourite apps (Netflix, Youtube and Google Play music) surface content all in the one list. I imagined the list containing new videos from my youtube subscribed list, a quick link to the next episode of Narcos (currently watching) and google play music showing quick playlists like Waking Up Happy.

Instead I find that Netflix doesn't even surface content into the recommended list, youtube only shows videos that are trending globally (possibly Canada) and Google Play Music is showing a few random playlists (actually the best of the 3 apps, I have seen some okay suggestions that seem personalized).

How has the experience been for others? Is this just because I am in Canada?

The android developer website talks about you recommendations are to be implemented... But to me it seems like they don't try with their own apps. https://developer.android.com/training/tv/discovery/recommendations.html

Andrroid

, youtube only shows videos that are trending globally

I absolutely hate Youtubes integration. It should be account based, pulling from your subscriptions.

nolookjones

hopefully there is no geoblocking with these features cause im going to be using a mibox in canada too. my understanding is these recommended tv content is supposed to get better over time? can any other canadian owners chime in?
