Android TV Android app not connecting to mi box 3.

by dogsdawgs

Trying to get the Android TV remote app working to use my phone (Nexus 6) as a remote. Both devices are able to see each other but the app won't connect. No other issues with either device connecting to Bluetooth devices that I'm aware of. Any advice? Am I missing a setting somewhere?

The mi box 3 is an older non androidTV box is it not?

Try a box running AndroidTV

I'm having the same issue. The AndroidTV app sees the Mi Box. When I tap it to connect/pair it flashes a connecting for a few seconds then disappears. have you made any progress on this?

I'd like to be able to use my phone as a remote primarily for a keyboard when searching/typing like I do on Roku (really not even sure if this will be possible with androidtv)

No issues here. Make sure any power save mode is disabled just in case. You shouldn't need to connect to Bluetooth, it should work via WiFi.

I guess it's not that big a deal just weird.

From what I've read, everything but phones are allowed to connect to the MI Box via Bluetooth, for whatever reason, most likely piracy..? That seems to be the 'go-to' blame for everything anymore.
