Most anime encodes (10 bit H.264 generally) don't play well, any ideas how to workaround that?

Have any of you guys had the issue? Tried it on two Android TVs so far, same result, the Shield TV box (someone lent me one) could apparently software decode those files through brute-forcing, but TVs have weaker CPUs/GPUs and it just doesn't work, even with MXPlayer or VLC. 10bit x265 works perfectly though.

Any idea which media player might work? I'm aware about the option to set up a Plex media server, but that's more a last resort than a first option to me.

I don't think anything out there except a Shield TV is going to be able to do 10bit H264 in hardware as far as Android TV goes right now, especially in 1080p.

Your best bet is to keep your Anime on your PC and use Plex. Plex will transcode on the fly if your device does not support a particular format. I have a LOT of anime and most of it is 10-bit H.264 and this is what I have done.

No issues with those codecs. I have the mi box.
