So this happens on 4k content mostly but also sometimes on HD content. Once an episode has this problem it doesn't seem like I can play it ever. I had success sometimes by clearing the cache or reinstalling but now it doesn't seem to fix it.

Have you checked your internet connection?
I just bought an Element 4K smart tv with the Netflix app. I can stream 4K shows without any issues consistently with it wirelessly. The same wireless network the Mi Box is on. Bottom Line, this isn't a Netflix or network issue, it's a Mi Box issue. Little confidence they will update their firmware and software to fix it. Advice to all...take yours back or do not buy! It's a worthless POS.

After clearing data I have got it to play but the 4k content does not fill the screen and has black bars on the left and right making it look like a 4:3 image. The built in Netflix on the TV displays 4k fine. I have tried changing the aspect ratio on the TV with no success.
I have that on my nexus player too. I just exit out of Netflix and log back in.
I am having the exact same problem as op. Hope someone figures this out.
