It's been about a year since I heard the rumors that the Nintendo NX could the Android OS. Nvidia proved that a good box using Android TV is a great way to play video games. How awesome would it be if Nintendo NX did come out running the Android TV platform! I'm not sure of the chances of this actually happening, but there were rumors over a year ago.
I don't see it. There would be too many limitations on game development if Nintendo went Android. 3rd party developers were already put off by developing for the underpowered Wii U and it's OS limitations, Android would make that worse.
No... BUT... I WOULD LOVE THIS!!!! I believe Android TV word make an AMAZING console operating system. Let Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft(lol) stick to making the hardware and let Google make the software.
I wonder if Nintendo will even bother trying to create an app platform/store for the Nintendo NX. The big three streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon) rolled out apps for the Wii U but it doesn't have the range of apps that the Xbox One or PS 4 have.
No they won't. It would also be a terrible idea. Remember the Ouya? It would have to be locked down and neutered to prevent piracy/emulation. Then you'd have the competing Google Play store and Nintendo's platform.
Odds are they will go for a custom UI like every other console.
Also Nintendo's partnership with Apple for timed exclusivity with Super Mario Run doesn't lend itself to that theory

as cool as this would be, no way will it happen.
People will reverse engineer the rom and apk's, find what makes it tick, and clone it for games to be playable on any other android device, or improve current nintendo emulatord on android

No, keep Android the fuck away from consoles. The whole point of them is that you buy it once and then game for about 5 years without compatibility issues of any form.
The Shield is awesome, but there are already rumors about a successor. It is not even two years old right now, hell in Germany it was released almost exactly a year ago.
