I'm not fond of the Sony remote that comes with the TV. It's very busy, and I find I only need a few of the buttons. I like the simplicity of the Shield remote. Does anyone know if it will work with a Sony Android TV? I did some Googling, but couldn't find an answer.
IIRC, the Shield remote uses Wi-Fi direct, and is only really designed to be compatible with the Shield's particular implementation of it.
If you're looking for a simpler remote, you might take a look at the Amazon Fire TV Stick remote .
I once got the Shield remote to pair to my phone. I could navigate a little, although voice control didn't work.

It might. A question on Amazon asked that and someone answered with "It powers on my 4kuhd tv. just go into the setting on your tv."
Not sure why the two comments saying it won't work got downvoted before I got here, but they're right. The shield remote will not work with your TV.
