Another Mi Box review from someone without 4K or HDR. Two big selling points of the Mi Box. The latter which is not even functional yet, shouldn't even be on the box or advertised.
Any news on if passthrough audio is working properly yet? I was only able to get it to work on Netflix. Plex, Kodi, and Google Cast apps weren't working right, where as with my 1st Gen Chromecast I have no problems.
Why am I seeing conflicting reports on whether this has a builtin IR receiver? This reviews says it doesn't, but I've read others that say it does and saw an unboxing video on youtube that shows what looks like an IR receiver on the front. Can anyone confirm?
Pretty fair review however I think its kind of ironic that he concentrates so much on 4K when he doesn't even have a display. Kind of shows that 4K is really overblown.
A new to market box has to have the feature right now for marketing purposes but the combination of few people having a 4K TV and such a small amount of 4K content available make it really a feature not worth much discussion.
The lacking ethernet connector is still a deal breaker for me.
I heard the mibox remote has no virtual cursor... I have an android box but not android TV. Under android tv is a cursor never required? I'm talking about within apps
Pretty fair review - this is pretty much exactly what I expected out of the Mi Box. Nothing extraordinary like a Shield but will get the job done if all you're doing is streaming content. My family still has a 1080p TV so this supplements our OTA antenna quite well.
I bought it simply for an official Android TV device to run Kodi and its worked spectacularly for the various addons available.
Goodbye cable bill!
