Mi Box and CEC

by Chubbyclouds

I learned last night that it is possible to eliminate some remotes by enabling the HDMI CEC setting on my TV. So far I can get my Mi box remote to turn my TV on but I can't get it to turn it off. I've tried changing the setting for the power button in the Mi Box settings but when I set it "Shutdown" it constantly brings up the reboot option. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! http://i.imgur.com/dCJo0Jp.png

I don't think it turns off the tv--only on. But my TV turns itself off after a couple of minutes of no video input. So when I turn off the mi box (sleep, not actually off) the TV turns off a couple minutes later.

What I wish the mi box remote did control was the actual tv volume control. My tv always turns on at about 20% volume and I need it at 40% or higher with the mi box in order for the mi box remote's volume controls to be useful. So that means I have to use the TV remote for volume.

Conversely I could use the TV's remote for the mi box as it has all the controls available on the mi box, though perhaps not the sleep function. But it does have pause/play buttons that function with the mi box. I don't use the TV remote much though since it is IR and the mi box's is bluetooth.
