Mi Box has an IR Receiver!

by quechucha

I found that the mi box has an ir receiver and it works great with my harmony remote.

I just wanted to let you guys know

A quick test to see if it's HDMI-CEC instead appearing to be IR: put your Mi box out of line of sight, point your remote at TV only.

It definitely does have an ir receiver. I use my Harmony remote with it also and programmed it so I am well aware of which device is doing what.

Mine is the Android TV unit from Walmart.

Are you sure its the new 4k mibox bro?

condor85

This is the killer feature.

So, how did you program it with your harmony? Which remote code did you use?

Can confirm as well, I'm using a harmony touch remote from 2013, no bluetooth or RF on that one and it does in fact work like a charm. I came to a similar epiphany earlier this week because like many it's not stated anywhere that it has it. Though the profile I found on the myharmony application doesn't show play/pause/ff/rw so don't know how to get those features

Can confirm. Used Samsung remote to turn volume down and vol down on mi box went also. Thought it was funny.

Is it possible to reprogram an xfinity remote to the Mi Box?

Is it possible to use mi ir remote with mi box 4k

Give us a link to the mi box you purchased.

The remote isn't ir. I tried to program a universal learning remote I have and it does not detect a ir signal. It might have a receiver on the unit but I need the remote ir signal to make mine work.

Never been a fan of Logitech remotes but I'm kinda jealous now.

Either it's not Model # MDZ-16-AB or they think it does because of the HDMI remote pass thru functionality..?
