MiBox Won't Turn On Randomly

by Idonthaveanaccount9

Bought the MiBox, have had it for about a week now. Installed apps, configured it, Kodi, the whole 9. I try to use it one day, and it wont boot, nothing. No signs of life at all. I've tried different TVs, different HDMI cords, different power ports, nothing works.

I'd love to just return it, because I didn't love it, it was kind of slow and stuff, but I fear the next person that buys this from the Open Box section of Walmart open it up, and be able to use all of my accounts and logins.

Any advice? I'd be open to either getting it to work, or just enough to wipe it to factory resets. Thanks.

Edit: I've searched all over, and I seem to be the only person in the world that has this issue, it's extremely strange. No one else has had it not start up. I'm so clueless. The remote does nothing, it doesn't respond at all to anything I do. But my TV recognizes that something was plugged in, not sure what that means.

lock it from here maybe https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager?u=0

works with regular android

Either way, tell them it's broke. It should have a different fate if the employees do their job.

I also experienced a defective Mi Box.

I brought it home from Walmart on launch day, and there was no video sent to the television. I tried three HDMI cables, three televisions, and three electrical outlets (all known to be good).

I knew it was "on" because of the light emitted from the AUX mini-Toslink port.

I finally gave up and returned it to Walmart for a refund. The second Mi Box (from the same Walmart) worked perfectly.

My Mi Box is defective as well, with various ongoing issues, although it hasn't completely died like this one. I know reports on this board aren't anything approaching a representative random sample but it seems like we're seeing an unusually high number of people reporting problems with their Mi Box. I really wonder about the build quality on these things.

Same issue here.
