I've been searching for the perfect remote that has media buttons(play/pause and rewind/forward), voice search, volume and it would be really exceptional if it also had a headphone port. I feel like these are pretty basic functions and there are remotes that have some of these but not all. Anyone come across the perfect solution? Running an Nvidia Shield so wifi-direct is an option.
The Nvidia Shield Gamepad has all those, no? The only catch is to figure out which buttons do what. At least that is the case for Kodi and SPMC.
According to this thread , the Harmony Hubs work with the Shield. I'm a long time Harmony owner (3 standard remotes, now two hubs), and IMO, there's nothing better than the Harmony Hub.
The only thing it's missing is your headphone jack, but those are so rare outside of Roku remotes they might as well not exist.
I've heard people have gotten good results with the Amazon Fire TV Alexa Remote.
The Sony TV remotes have everything you lost but the headphone ports lol
FLIRC works great on my ShieldTV with Kodi
You can have media buttons + volume (Harmony) or you can have media buttons + voice search (Amazon Fire TV remote) but I don't think there's a remote that will do everything.
Sadly, such a wonderful creature, as you describe, has yet to walk this earth.
