Import MiBox now or wait and hope?

by TheRealSilverBlade

As a Canadian, is it worth it to buy a Mibox from ebay and import it in, or should I wait for it (or maybe a different Android TV box) to appear in Canada?

I don't see another main stream streaming device for any platform being released or even revealed before CES 2017.

I'm from Canada as well. I ordered two on ebay today. Unfortunately our options are limited. Shield or nothing!

I'm in Toronto and ordered it from eBay. The device is pretty awesome.

I'm Canadian too (Southern Ontario). I went on the American Walmart website (.com instead of .ca), and was able to order a pair of mi boxes to a Walmart close to the border. Then just made a trip to pick them up. Not as convenient as eBay, but I know they are legit...

I bought a MiBox from eBay for 75USD. I live by Toronto so I would say just get it from eBay if you can find it for a similar price. Only downside was the 22USD shipping costs.

Just buy it off ebay and import it, thats what I did. My thought process: Who knows when it'll arrive it, but when it does, I assume it'll likely retail for at least $99 CDN. Add your taxes on top of that (13% in Ontario), and you are already looking at ~$113. I figured this was best case scenario, so I have no issues paying an extra ~$10 and getting it off ebay right now.

I had picked up 1 across the border in Bellingham as soon as it came out. Used it 2 times and on the 3rd wouldn't turn on anymore. Had 1 day left before I could no longer return it, so I had to drive back and return it. No stock on hand to exchange. Not sure what it would be like dealing with warranty when doing it from Canada, didnt want to deal with it.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I bought it from walmart.com, and used a reshipper (shipito.com) to have it shipped up here. Total cost was about the same as the eBay auctions I was finding, and I figure worst case, I could find a way to get this one back to walmart.com if I want to return it.

I could have driven an hour each way to pick it up in the states, but the ~$20 in shipping wasn't really worth the time.

I like mine so far, but it's a bit rough still. Most things are working well, but if tinkering isn't your style, it might be worth waiting a bit.

I doubt anything is on it's way to Canada anytime soon though, so I'd pick your spot and order from ebay or the states.
