Live Channels and QAM, no actual channel listings?

by Huuuze

I'm hoping members of this subreddit can help me. I have a Sony Bravia Android TV and have connected my Verizon coax cable to the QAM tuner on the TV. When it ran, it (sadly) discovered over 1000 channels. This presented quiet a chore to pare down the list of desired channels (which only totaled around 6) via Live Channel's hide/show options.

Unfortunately, despite paring things down, the program guide does not display anything. It's just a series of blank dates and times.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any way to fix it?

I don't think any cable TV service providers send program guide data to the TV. You might consider looking into an OTA antenna which would include program guide data.

Go to TV Fool and post a link to your report in /r/OTA for antenna suggestions. Be sure to mention if you want an indoor, outdoor, or attic antenna and if you want single or multi-room viewing or DVR suggestions. In many situations you can reuse the existing coax cables in your home.

You only get embedded guide/channel data with ATSC (OTA/antenna), for cable it is not included in the stream (you will only get the channel number and channel call sign).

Do any channels play? It could be that the channels are not sending program data with the channel data. Or, it could be that the program sync will happen a little later than immediately since it'll take longer and need to happen in the background.
