Mi Box in Canada?

by shannondonegan

Recently discovered Kodi/tv boxes through a friend and would like to get one for myself. Going to the states this month and wondering if I pick up a Mi Box, will it work well here in Canada? I've heard good things and I am mainly interested in using it for Kodi (and Netflix). Don't want to buy one of the cheap tv boxes from China on amazon etc.

Would I need to do anything special to get it to work other than download kodi/add ons? Does it need to be jailbroken or something? I'm not technologically inclined but in watching youtube tutorials it seems like it's fairly straightforward to download Kodi and start watching. (Sorry for my limited knowledge. Not my area of expertise lol).

It should work perfectly fine here in Canada. There are just certain apps that won't show up in the Canadian play store.

Also, take a look at SPMC. It's a customized version of Kodi that is designed to be better optimized for Android TV.

If you are based in TO or GTA, I would buy yours at cost if you end up not liking. So now you have insurance :-)

Canadian with a mi box, It's pretty much plug and play!

It works just fine, but a lot of the apps don't work in Canada, like HBO. The Play Store is pretty bare. I've purchased a lot of apps on my phones and tablets over the years, but most apps just aren't made for Android TV.

I'm in TO with a Mi Box and I'm liking it so far! Although some of the apps I use most have issues like not saving video history, or not supporting Android TV altogether (despite announcing support on their website). But others like Netflix, Youtube, Play Music work well plus built in Cast support so I love it!
