Network commands to control my Android TV?

by BenderDeLorean

Hi all,

Do you know where I can find some examples or references for controlling Android TVs via network (via push or get commands)? I already googled a lot but I have found nothing useful. I want to program my own "app" for my home and got it already working with my Denon AVR and some other devices. I would be really happy with some basics like turning on/off, switching channels.... Of course I would share my results if someone is interested.

You can do some stuff with the info on here http://www.openremote.org/display/forums/Sony+TV+HTTP+control?focusedCommentId=23601972#comment-23601972

Or use the Anymote app, it is pretty comprehensive and can make custom remote layouts.

You can use a Raspberry Pi and/or USB-CEC bridge to emulate remote button presses on the Nexus Player (and probably other Android TV devices as well) using standard HDMI-CEC commands. I've been playing around with it a little - let me know if you want more info.

Other than that - has anyone made a good third party Google Cast library? Casting everything wouldn't be ideal (IMO), but it might work.
