I saw some guys talking in this thread. Is it the exact same protocol. Will an Android TV device always work exactly the same as a Chrome Cast device? I am 90% sure my next media box will be an Android TV device, I just want to make sure.

No, it doesn't work exactly the same as with a Chromecast, although it does mostly. Some apps support casting to Chromecast but not Android TV, for whatever reason. Some have a different UI and user experience - like Netflix requires first signing in to the Netflix app to cast to it, so you can't just cast from any account like with the Chromecast. Have a search of this subreddit for more threads about this with more details and quirks.
Some android TV devices have older version of chromecast software and may behave differently, but should be updated soon, like Sony TV. Some apps place restrictions on what chromecast can do and cast will not work in those cases.
So does bitx casting (streaming torrent player) work with shield or mibox?
Yes it does, as long as it's a proper Android TV device it supports Google Cast. Replaced my gen 1 Chromecast with the Nvidia Shield and there's no more latency delay any more.
